Cyprus and Iran have agreed to conclude a series of memoranda of understanding regarding the protection of the environment and development of agriculture.

The agreement was reached during a two-day visit (March 6-8) by a Cypriot business delegation in Tehran headed by the Mediterranean island’s Minister of Agriculture Nicos Kouyialis, who met with Massoumeh Ebtekar, the head of the Department of Environment.

The two discussed the global campaign against climate change. Iran and Cyprus are signatories to the historic climate deal signed last December in Paris. The two also broached the subjects of bilateral environmental research and maritime protection.

According to the Famagusta Gazette, Kouyialis invited Ebtekar to visit Cyprus.

The Cypriot official also met his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Hojjati.
