Over 10 joint environmental projects have been launched in the southern Bushehr Province since the beginning of the current fiscal year (March 21), according to the director of the provincial office of the Department of Environment. Some of the projects aim to mobilize government experts, NGOs and the general public together to address environmental problems and help protect nature, Mehr News Agency quoted Hossein Delshab as saying. “Projects include plans to protect the Persian Gulf Sea Turtle, Humpback Dolphin, Asiatic Cheetah, Iranian Chinkara and other animal species endemic to the region,” he said. The official stressed the importance of the general public’s involvement in environmental projects and recalled that “successful plans are mostly people-driven.” He urged environmentalists and activists to submit their proposals and plans to protect the environment to the provincial DOE office.
