Backing Nuclear Diplomacy Backing Nuclear Diplomacy

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Monday Moscow believes that diplomatic efforts can lead to the resolution of the dispute over Tehran’s nuclear program.

The Russian official made the remarks in a press conference in Moscow after his meeting with Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman, according to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

“During this meeting with my Israeli colleague, we also discussed Iran’s nuclear program. We believe that this issue can only be settled through political and diplomatic efforts,” Lavrov said.

He added, “Work on this issue continues, and there are grounds to hope for a positive result. I’d like to say again that we firmly insist that a settlement must not create any security risks or threats for the regional countries, including Israel.”
