Iran, Europe and Yemen's Houthi Ansarullah movement held a trilateral meeting at the Iranian Foreign Ministry in Tehran on Saturday to explore solutions to the lingering political crisis in the war-shattered Arab country.
The Iranian delegation was led by Foreign Ministry's Senior Assistant for Special Political Affairs Ali Asghar Khaji and the Yemeni delegation was headed by the spokesman of Houthi Ansarullah movement, Mohammed Abdul-Salam.
Europe was represented by envoys from E4, namely Britain, France, Germany and Italy, ISNA reported.
The delegates outlined their governments’ stance on political and humanitarian developments in Yemen.
The participants deplored the continuation of critical conditions in Yemen, which have taken a toll on people’s lives and destroyed the impoverished country’s infrastructure.
They also voiced concerns about the grave humanitarian situation in Yemen and underlined the need for an immediate end to hostilities and increased efforts to facilitate the supply of relief aid to Yemenis.
In a tweet after the meeting, UK’s Ambassador in Tehran Robert Macaire underlined the significance of the meeting and said, “Important to have dialogue both on political track and humanitarian crisis.”
