Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani sent a message to his Iranian counterpart, Mohammed Javad Zarif, on Wednesday regarding Tehran-Doha ties and ways of improving relations.
The message was delivered by Fahad Ahmed Al-Hamar, charge d'affaires of Qatar's Embassy in Tehran, to Alireza Enayati, director general for Persian Gulf affairs at Iran’s Foreign Ministry, ISNA reported.
Qatar is among friendly Persian Gulf Arab nations. Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani told President Hassan Rouhani in a phone conversation on Monday that Doha is ready to develop wide-ranging relations with Tehran and called for the implementation of previous agreements reached between the two countries.
Iran has also stood by Doha and provided diplomatic and economic support during its diplomatic crisis when Saudi Arabia and its Persian Gulf allies blockaded Qatar politically and economically in 2017.
