Zarif to Visit NY for UN Meeting

Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif is to visit New York on Tuesday to attend the one-day high-level plenary meeting of the United Nations General Assembly on April 24. 
Iran’s new ambassador to the world body, Majid Takht-Ravanchi, will accompany him on the trip, IRNA reported.  
The event is aimed at promoting the first official International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace, which was approved on Dec. 12, 2018. 
The international day is a reaffirmation of the UN Charter and its principles of resolving disputes among countries through peaceful means. It acknowledges the use of multilateral decision-making and diplomacy in achieving peaceful resolutions to conflicts among nations.
