German Deputy Speaker Meets VP

The deputy speaker of Germany's Bundestag held a meeting with Vice President for Women and Family Affairs Shahindokht Molaverdi on Saturday.
Claudia Roth, who arrived in Tehran at the head of a parliamentary delegation, said Iran has introduced great initiatives on extremism and violence.
In addition, she expressed hope for a "successful" settlement of the dispute over Tehran's nuclear program.  
Earlier in the day, she met with the caretaker of Tehran University Mahmoud Nili Ahmadabadi. The two officials discussed expansion of cooperation between German and Iranian academic centers, especially in the fields of energy and environment.      
The German lawmakers travelled to East Azarbaijan Province on Friday and held talks with provincial officials. They also visited tourist sites in the region, including Lake Urmia. Claudia Roth pledged Germany's support for efforts aiming to revive Lake Urmia.    
The vice president of Bundestag is scheduled to meet Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and Head of the Department of Environment Massoumeh Ebtekar today.
