Pakistan Urged to Confront Terrorists

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps has urged Pakistan to take serious measures against the militants responsible for the Wednesday attack that killed 27 of its members and injured 13 more.

The incident happened on a road linking the cities of Zahedan and Khash in the southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan where a car laden with explosives rammed into a bus carrying IRGC military personnel.

The so-called Jaish ul-Adl (Army of Justice), which is thought to operate from western Pakistan, has claimed the bombing.

“Since Pakistan is aware of the location of these dangerous forces and is accountable for their crimes, it is expected to fulfill its duties regarding the security of the shared border and not to allow terrorists to use the areas as a base for anti-security operations against the Iranian nation,” IRGC Commander Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari was quoted as saying by ISNA on Saturday.

He called on Islamabad’s government to change its approach toward the hostile group.

Jafari noted that if Pakistan refuses to confront the terrorists, Iran will retaliate against the militant groups based on international regulations that recognize the right of countries to counter foreign threats at borders.
