Iran’s top diplomat lambasted the US President Donald Trump's policy of backing “dictators, butchers and extremists” in the Middle East.
Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif denounced Trump’s anti-Iran allegations in his State of the Union speech on Wednesday.
“US hostility has led it to support dictators, butchers & extremists, who’ve only brought ruin to our region,” Zarif wrote in the Twitter post.

During his speech, Trump repeated his allegations about Tehran’s regional role and contended that his administration has acted decisively to confront it, Reuters reported.
“It is a radical regime. They do bad, bad things,” Trump claimed. “We will not avert our eyes from a regime that chants ‘death to America’ and threatens genocide against the Jewish people.”
Zarif responded by saying that Iran, including its Jewish community, is commemorating progress as the nation prepares to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution next Monday.
“Iranians—including our Jewish compatriots—are commemorating 40 yrs of progress despite US pressure, just as @realDonaldTrump again makes accusations against us @#SOTU2019” Zarif wrote on Twitter, referring to the State of the Union address.
Iran is vehemently opposed to the occupying regime of Israel, but has made it clear that it respects the Jewish people, as the followers of a divine faith.
