Parliamentary Team Set to Visit Turkey

A delegation of Iranian lawmakers from Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission was scheduled to visit Turkey on Tuesday to discuss issues of mutual interest.

According to Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh, the head of the Majlis commission, the delegates are to meet Turkish legislators, Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu and a number of businesspeople.

“We will focus on issues regarding transport at border crossings and discuss the role of parliaments in pursuing the strategy of improving bilateral relations, particularly trade ties,” he was quoted as saying by ICANA.

Facing strict sanctions reimposed by the US after it scrapped the 2015 nuclear deal last year, Iran is working to maintain and boost its ties with neighboring countries to alleviate the negative impacts of the hostile policies.

Turkey has described Washington’s move as aiming to unbalance the world, declaring that it will not abide by US sanctions on Iran.
