Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has appointed Hojjatoleslam Mohammad Javad Haj Ali-Akbari as one of the interim Friday prayer leaders of the capital, Tehran’s Friday Prayer Headquarters announced on Monday.
Hojjatoleslam Haj Ali-Akbari, 54, is the current head of the Prayer Leaders’ Policymaking Council, IRNA reported.
According to Tehran’s Friday Prayer Headquarters, he is scheduled to lead this week’s Friday prayer in Tehran.
The cleric, who holds an MA in Islamic law and is a veteran of the Iran-Iraq war in the 1980s, had previously served as the Friday prayer leader of Damavand, the head of National Youth Organization under former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and as the Leader’s representative in cultural and academic institutes.
