The Emir of Kuwait expressed his country’s willingness to develop relations with Iran, as he received the new Iranian ambassador on Monday.
“We see Iran as our neighbor in the region and are interested in expanding beneficial cooperation with Tehran,” Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was also quoted as saying by Iran’s Embassy in Kuwait, IRNA reported.
Stressing the importance of establishing peace in the region, Sheikh Sabah expressed hope that issues would be resolved through dialogue.
Mohammad Irani, who was presenting his credentials to the Kuwaiti emir during a ceremony in Bayan Palace, described the two countries’ ties as “friendly and fraternal”.
“Tehran believes the security and stability of the country are closely linked to that of the region, especially neighboring countries,” he said.
Irani also emphasized that regional stability and security cannot be attained without regional collaboration.
Kuwait, along with Oman and Qatar, is among Persian Gulf Arab states that have maintained friendly relations with Iran.
