Relations between Iran and Turkey have been growing in recent years and the two countries need to work to further expand ties, Iran’s presidential chief of staff said.
“The current atmosphere between the two states raises hopes for reaching the desired level of trade and economic transactions,” Mahmoud Vaezi said, IRNA reported.
Vaezi made the statement in a meeting with Turkish Minister of Trade Ruhsar Pekcan in Ankara on Thursday during his mission to arrange the upcoming visit of President Hassan Rouhani to Turkey to meet his counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
He also called for greater efforts to help realize the target of $30 billion in mutual trade agreed between the two presidents.
Pekcan described Iran as a strategic partner for Turkey.
“[Iran] has had and will have a special political and economic significance for us,” he said, hoping that high-level meetings will help develop bilateral relations.
