The Cabinet voted on Wednesday to approve Anoushirvan Mohseni Bandpey as the governor general of Tehran Province. 
The top officials also endorsed the appointment of new governors general of Alborz and Semnan provinces, according to the official website of the president. 
During the Cabinet session, President Hassan Rouhani highlighted the role of governors general in the effective implementation of government-backed projects across the country, calling on them to “redouble efforts to help advance development and construction plans in provinces”.
Mohseni Bandpey had previously served as caretaker of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare Ministry and Iran’s Social Security Organization. 
The former reformist parliamentarian has also done stints as deputy health minister and the head of State Welfare Organization.
