Leader Urges Vigilance About Moves of Hostile Powers

Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Wednesday called on people and authorities to support domestic production while remaining vigilant about the moves of hostile powers that want to see Iran capitulate to their demands.

“Everyone should redouble efforts to help strengthen the country’s economy and domestic production, and officials should be cautious not to fall for the enemy’s hypocrisy and tricks,” the Leader said during a meeting with families of Iranian martyrs in Tehran, his official website reported.

“If authorities take the issue of increasing national production seriously, people’s economic problems will decrease,” he added.

The current Iranian year, which began on March 21, has been named the year of “Support for Iranian Products” by the Leader to help make the economy more self-sufficient and insulate it from sanctions and foreign ploys.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the US had sought to create a fissure between the nation and the establishment, but all their mischievous plots have been exposed.

“Their goal was to sow discord in the country and provoke conflict between different groups through sanctions and anti-security measures.”

US President Donald Trump withdrew the United States from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal in May, calling it flawed to Tehran’s advantage, and reimposed far-reaching US sanctions in phases, with oil and banking penalties taking effect on Nov. 5.

The depreciation of the national currency as a result of the return of sanctions, rising inflation and high unemployment have triggered labor unrest and protests in Iran in recent months.

US Plots

The Leader said the Islamic Republic has stood strong for four decades despite US attempts to regain the status it had in Iran before the 1979 Islamic Revolution when the former Shah was a close ally of Washington.

"The Zionists and reactionary governments in the region are in cahoots with the United States. But we are stronger than them," he said.

Ayatollah Khamenei urged everyone to remain vigilant, although the enemy’s true colors have been revealed.

“My advice to the Iranian nation, particularly the youth and … political groups is that you should be careful not to pave the way for the enemy because if we are negligent, they will find an opportunity to harm us,” he said.

The Leader also criticized the Saudi-led coalition of Arab countries engaged in the deadly war in Yemen, saying that the kingdom has extended a hand of friendship to the enemies of Islam.

“They thought they would be able to gain control of Yemen in a matter of days or weeks. But they have failed to further their agenda for four years,” he said, adding that America is complicit in atrocities committed by Riyadh and its allies in the Arab state.
