A lawmaker said on Friday that renewed US sanctions on Tehran will bolster unity among Iranian people against foreign threats.
“Iranians become more united whenever Iran faces foreign threats ... Political factions and Iranians from all walks of life will stand up to [US President Donald] Trump’s bullying tactics,” Mahmoud Sadeqi said, the news website Jamaran reported.
The US sanctions, lifted under a 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and major powers, will come back into force on Monday, after Trump opted out of the historic accord in May.
Earlier in the day, the European Union, in a joint statement with France, Germany and Britain, said they regret the Trump administration’s decision to leave the nuclear pact.
They also stressed that they are determined to protect European firms doing legitimate business with Tehran.
