Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on Thursday that Iran will never give in to the demands of the United States, vowing that the country will defeat the enemy by overcoming sanctions.

"The enemy wants to drive the Iranian nation to the conclusion that the country has reached an impasse and has no other option but to bow to the United States," the Leader told a gathering of Basij volunteer forces and senior military officials at Tehran's Azadi Stadium, his official website reported.

Resorting to sanctions shows that the US has no alternative but to apply economic pressure on the country, though it is oblivious to the fact that "sanctions are more fragile than our economy", he stated.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the country's domestic economy can help us overcome sanctions, adding that the defeat of sanctions will be the defeat of the United States, and America must receive another slap from the people of Iran with the defeat of sanctions.

On Wednesday, Tehran hailed its "victory" after the International Court of Justice ruled that sanctions reimposed after US President Donald Trump pulled out of the 2015 nuclear deal put Iranian lives at risk.

But the US insisted that it was already allowing humanitarian exemptions to sanctions and announced that it was terminating a treaty on which the case was based.

>Distorted Image

The Leader said the enemy's propaganda campaign is aimed at presenting a distorted image of the Iranian realities on the ground and creating the false impression that the US is in a position of strength in order to sow the seeds of despair in the hearts of Iranians.

He acknowledged that there are weak spots in the economy, including its heavy reliance on oil revenues and inefficient allocation of resources, but said it does not mean that the country is facing a dead end.

Those who are assisting the enemy in promoting the idea that the existing problems cannot be resolved and that rejecting US demands will soon bring about the demise of the Islamic Republic are "committing the greatest act of betrayal" toward the nation, he added.

"Iran will never succumb to US pressure," he promise. "With the help of God and people, especially the youth, I will never allow such a thing to happen as long as I am alive."

>Delusion of Grandeur

The Leader also said American officials, whose regional policies have been marked by failures in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Pakistan and Afghanistan, have delusions of grandeur.

"The reality is that they are not in a position of strength because the main determining factor in global confrontations is soft power, which means the ability to use logic and reason," he said, noting that the US acts like a bully because its arguments have no logical and reasonable basis.

Ayatollah Khamenei said another reality is that the US has a fundamental problem with the very existence of the Islamic establishment because they are afraid of the influence of a Muslim power in the region.

He called on the people and authorities to maintain their unity to help the Islamic Republic progress in all areas.
