Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday that Iranian military forces are fighting terrorism in Syria lawfully and at the request of the Syrian government.
She made the statement during a press briefing where she referred to Iran’s recent missile attack on militants in Syria, who were behind the Sept. 22 terrorist attack on a military parade in the southwestern Iranian city of Ahvaz, IRNA reported.
Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps last Monday fired six surface-to-surface ballistic missiles at the terrorists' positions in a region in the east of Euphrates.
In the operation, key elements behind the Ahvaz gun attack were killed or injured, and their infrastructures and ammunition depots were destroyed.
At least 25 people were killed in the terrorist assault, which was claimed by both a dissident ethnic Arab group and the self-styled Islamic State terrorist group.
