Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani warned the Israeli regime to stop supporting terrorists in Syria and attacking the Syrian Army and its allied forces, or expect a regrettable response.
“The Zionist regime is seeking to perpetuate crisis in Syria and has taken measures in direct support of terrorist groups and for hitting the Syrian Army and the forces fighting against terrorism,” Shamkhani said in a meeting with Secretary of Russia’s Security Council Nikolai Patrushev in Tehran on Thursday, Tasnim News Agency reported.
He also warned that if the Israeli regime continues its actions in Syria, it will face “regrettable reactions”.
Shamkhani touched on US sanctions against Iran, Russia and China, saying Washington’s resort to sanctions results from its frustration in the face of the progress and empowerment of those actors.
The Russian official stressed the need for closer regional cooperation against terrorism.
Urging the international community to counter the US anti-security measures, Patrushev warned that the world would soon witness a crisis in Afghanistan like that in Syria and Iraq, if the US unilateral and dangerous actions were not addressed seriously.
