No Likelihood of Military Hostilities

Commander of the Army Ground Force Brigadier General Kiomars Heidari rejected the possibility of war and said the country faces no military threat. Speaking in the western city of Hamadan on Sunday, Heidari praised Iran’s defense power and said the country’s military might is at the highest level. “We hereby inform the people that there is no danger threatening our country and we are not on the brink of any war,” he said. “However, this does not mean that we should not maintain our preparedness,” Tasnim News Agency quoted him as saying.

The general noted that the Armed Forces have reached such a level of deterrence that hostile powers are now resorting to options other than military tactics against Iran. “This level of deterrence is the outcome of the Armed Forces’ presence, resistance, and especially self-reliance [in producing military hardware],” he said.
