Former first vice president Mohammad Reza Aref says it is a “futile effort” to try to eliminate reformists because it is impossible to eliminate “reformist thinking”.

“The strategic policy of the revolution and the system is the presence of political groups and persuasions on Iran’s political scene,” the member of the Expediency Council said in a meeting with members of the central council of the National Unity and Cooperation Party in Tehran on Sunday, IRNA reported.

“Each of the two main political groups, which are today known as reformists and principlists, had a great share in the victory of the Islamic Revolution.”
