Cordial Central Asia Ties a Pillar of Foreign Policy

A lawmaker said Iran’s foreign policy calls for strengthening ties with Central Asian states.

Chairman of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh made the remark in a meeting with ambassadors of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan in Iran on Wednesday, IRNA reported. “A pillar of Iran’s foreign policy is based on building relations with Central Asia,” he said. “The Majlis welcomes the expansion of parliamentary ties with the Central Asian states and is ready to remove barriers to the expansion of bilateral cooperation,” he said. In addition to bilateral ties, Falahatpisheh said the Iranian Parliament welcomes strengthening cooperation between lawmaking bodies in and outside the region. The envoys in the meeting pointed to the good neighboring relations between Iran and their countries and underlined the need to use reciprocal capacities to develop ties.
