Sweden Backs EU Efforts to Keep Nuclear Deal

Prime Minister Stefan Lofven said on Friday Sweden stands behind the EU's efforts to keep the 2015 international nuclear deal with Iran alive.  Lofven told Swedish Radio News that the deal is incredibly important for European and world security. He also said it was important to discuss the possibilities for European companies doing business with Iran, despite the US threatening sanctions.  Following US President Donald Trump decision to withdraw from the nuclear deal in May, Sweden’s Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom published a statement, saying Sweden and the EU will work to preserve the deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. “We continue to stand united with the EU in our full support for the deal and its implementation,” the statement said at the time.
