With ample experience and resilience in facing the brutal Iraqi-imposed war in the 1980s, the Armed Forces are prepared to counter any threat, Army Commander Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi said. Addressing a military academic event in Tehran on Tuesday, the Army chief highlighted the Armed Forces’ preparedness to combat foreign threats, warning enemies of a strong and decisive response. “The enemy is unaware of our moral and combat power and preparedness and of the rapport and unity among the Armed Forces and our people. If it (enemy) had an idea about our defense power, it will never speak to Iran with the language of threat,” he said, Tasnim News Agency reported. The united response from senior military officials comes after President Hassan Rouhani warned his US counterpart not to play fire after Donald Trump and his team said they want to bring Iran’s oil export to zero. Trump later lashed out at Rouhani in a tweet, saying “Never, ever threaten the United States again or you will suffer consequences.” Last week, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri cautioned the US against any hostile move, saying the US president’s move to carry out his threats would draw Iran’s strong and unimaginable response and could also jeopardize American interests.
