Twenty people were injured after a 4.1 magnitude earthquake jolted the western province of Lorestan late Saturday.

“Seventeen of those injured were treated on the site and two others were hospitalized,” Noor Mohammad Fardi Biranvand, a provincial official, told reporters on Sunday, Fars News Agency reported.

He said rescue teams and Lorestan Crisis Management Committee are dealing with the latest natural disaster.

The Seismological Center of Lorestan province affiliated to the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University registered the quake at 22:30 hours local time (18:00 GMT).

The epicenter of the quake was located in an area at 33.65 degrees longitude and 47.68 degrees latitude.

Above 5 magnitude earthquakes have rattled Iran’s southern and western provinces in recent weeks, although no fatalities were reported.
