    Israel’s Nation-State Law a Failed Bid

A declaration passed by the Israeli Knesset to establish an “independent Jewish state” in the occupied territories is a “failed plot”, a senior diplomat said. “The [Israeli] regime wants to redraw a new Middle East map by applying Zionist racist policies and apartheid with the cooperation of US and deceiving Saudi Arabia, the Majlis director for international affairs, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said, IRNA reported. He said Tel Aviv is trying to dislodge Muslim countries and Saudi Arabia is no exception. He made the remarks in a meeting Sunday with Zeineb Barjawi, the wife of Samir Kuntar, a Hezbollah resistance movement commander who was killed in an Israeli missile attack in Syria in December 2015. Israel on Thursday passed a controversial bill that officially defines it as the national homeland of the Jewish people and asserts that “the realization of the right to national self-determination in Israel is unique to the Jewish people.” The bill sparked outrage from Palestinians provoking concern and condemnation from the international community and civil rights campaigners.
