Neither Russia Nor US Can Decide on Iran’s Presence in Syria

The presence of Iranian military advisors in Syria cannot be decided by other countries, in particular Russia and the US.
“We believe that neither the Russians nor Americans or any other country are in a position to decide on the withdrawal of Iran military advisors from Syria,” Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, parliament director general for international affairs, said on Monday in response to rumors that Moscow had asked Tehran to leave Syria upon Israel’s request.
He said the Iranian military advisors are in Syria on the request of Syrian officials, adding that Iran has informed Russian officials that its presence in Syria is within the framework of Tehran-Damascus relations, Mehr News Agency reported.
He further said Iran will continue its support for the embattled  government in Damascus in its campaign against terrorism and will remain there until security and peace is restored to the war-torn country.
