First group of pilgrims comprising 270 people are to leave Tehran for Medina in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday. Talking to IRNA on Tuesday, head of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization, Hamid Mohammadi said the pilgrims would travel to Saudi Arabia on a daily basis from Imam Khomeini International Airport. Commenting on issuance of electronic visa for the pilgrims, Mohammadi said “So far 25,000 electronic visas have been issued, adding that the rest would be issued in the coming days.” Earlier he said some 85,200 pilgrims will be flown to Saudi Arabia for the annual rituals.\ According to schedule, flights to Medina begin on July 18 and  to Jeddah on July 30. Hajj is one of the pillars of Islam that every Muslim must undertake at least once in their lifetime if they can afford it and are physically able.
