Tehran and Dushanbe have signed and are implementing more than 160 agreements in various fields, Tajikistan ambassador said, adding that the figures, among other things, reflect the level of bilateral relations. “The number of MoUs is an indication of the high-level relations between our two countries,” Nematollah Emamzadeh told IRNA. “We are prepared to sign more MoUs in areas that are a priority in bilateral relations,” he said on Friday. The documents signed largely include economic and cultural domains, according to the ambassador. Talking on the sidelines of a meeting with businesspeople in central Hamedan Province, the senior envoy expressed hope that the cooperation between the two sides will expand. Ties between the two nations, both Persian-speaking and predominantly Muslim, have been strained in recent years. Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met with President Emomali Rahmon in Tajikistan in April and called for improving relations in all areas of mutual interest.
