A deputy foreign minister met Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni and delivered a message from President Hassan Rouhani.
In the meeting in Kampala on Thursday, Deputy Foreign Minister Morteza Sarmadi and the Ugandan leader discussed relations between the two countries and the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, Tasnim News Agency reported. Presenting a written message from president, Sarmadi called for concerted action by independent states to counter the US’ illogical policies and unilateral measures, which he said threaten world peace and security. Museveni voiced support for the nuclear deal and said he was monitoring developments surrounding the agreement between Iran and world powers and hoped that efforts to save the accord would yield results. Deploring the US “unacceptable policies” and unilateral measures, the Ugandan leader stressed the need for collective efforts to help strengthen multilateralism. Museveni expressed Uganda’s interest in boosting relations with Iran in all fields.
