Ties With Neighbors Should Improve

A lawmaker on Friday underlined improvement of Iran’s relations with the neighboring countries to thwart US sanctions. “Boosting relations with 15 countries which share joint borders with Iran and 25 regional countries is necessary, Heshmatollah Falahat-Pisheh, chairman of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission told IRNA, elaborating on policies needed to implement against US sanctions. He called for elevation of national solidarity and efficient management of resources against the mounting US pressures. The MP stressed that the government should prevent the forging of international consensus against Iran. He censured US President Donald Trump’s comment to drive Iran’s oil revenue to zero, saying such comments are tantamount to “law of the jungle”. The lawmaker voiced support for President Hassan Rouhani’s remarks about the impact of US threats on security of oil export from the Persian Gulf and noted that Iran will try to de-escalate tensions, but will not permit bullying powers to adopt anti-Iranian moves.
