Majlis Speaker to Visit Lebanon

Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani will visit Lebanon this summer, according to the Lebanese Embassy in Iran. Larijani will visit Beirut to congratulate his counterpart and Lebanese officials on the successful holding of the recent parliamentary elections in that country.  The visit should help strengthen strategic relations between the two countries, especially in the economic field, Mehr News Agency reported without providing dates for the visit. In another development, Mohammad-Jalal Firouznia was  named Iran’s ambassador to Beirut, replacing Mohamad Fathali whose tenure has come to an end. According to ISNA, Firouznia has served as ambassador to Yemen, Bahrain and Malaysia. He also served as director general of the Persian Gulf Office at the Foreign Ministry.
