Heads of 3 Branches Discuss Ways to Counter Sanctions

The Supreme Council of Economic Coordination convened on Saturday to weigh options and chart ways to counter the threat of US economic sanctions.

The meeting was attended by the heads of the three branches of government and held for the third time over the past four weeks, IRNA reported.

Creating jobs, ways of encouraging private sector investment, resolving banking issues and protecting the economy following the US’ violation of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal were the main topics discussed by President Hassan Rouhani, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and judiciary chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani.

The SCEC was formed by decree of the Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei to address public discontent and concerns over the reimposition of US sanctions after Donald Trump pulled out of the nuclear deal in May.
