A senior Foreign Ministry official submitted a message from President Hassan Rouhani to his Bolivian counterpart Evo Morales, lauding him for his “courageous position” against the US unilateral withdrawal from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.
During the meeting in La Paz on Tuesday, Rouhani’s special envoy and deputy foreign minister, Morteza Sarmadi, underlined the need for the international community to confront US unilateral policies, saying that commitment to the nuclear deal and imposition of sanctions against Iran at the same time is impossible, Mehr News Agency reported.
Morales underscored Bolivia’s support for Iran and said, “As the US has some allies, countries which are against colonialism should have their relations and strong bonds.”
He called for further reciprocal visits to facilitate closer economic and trade cooperation.
Morales voiced support for Iran in various political and international issues, stressing the need for developing ties among countries fighting US bullying and hegemony.
