Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has decried Israel’s formidable nuclear arsenal as a real threat to the Middle East and the world, calling for a new focus on the occupying regime’s secret nuclear warheads.
Referring to recent statistics released by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, Zarif said known nuclear warheads stationed in the Middle East are all owned by Israel.
In a new post on his official Twitter account on Monday, Zarif said although Iran has no nuclear weapons, Israel, which is the sole Middle Eastern country to possess such weapons, continues to “howl” about “fabricated” Iranian “ambitions,” Fars News Agency reported.
“There are at least 80 nuclear warheads stationed in the Middle East. None are in Iran; rather, they’re at the fingertips of a warmonger who howls incessantly about fabricated Iranian “ambitions”. Time for an overdue debate on the real threat to the region and beyond,” the senior diplomat tweeted, citing figures released by the SIPRI, an independent international institute dedicated to research into conflict, armaments, arms control and disarmament.
