Envoy Confers With President of Armenia

Armenian President Armen Sarkissian has called for expansion of ties with the Islamic Republic in all fields.

In his meeting with Iranian ambassador to Yerevan late on Sunday, the Armenian leader placed special emphasis on expanding cooperation and “benefitting from the existing capacities” of the two countries in boosting relations, Mehr News Agency reported.

The two sides called for developing bilateral relations in various fields as well as building interaction between the Iranian and Armenian communities.

Ambassador Seyed Kazem Sajjadi on behalf of Iranian government congratulated President Sarkissian on his election and wished further success for him and his government.

Sajjadi pointed to the cordial ties between the two countries and said, “Iran and Armenia are determined to develop  relations in all fields.”

The ambassador referred to the Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) signed recently between Iran and Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in Astana, capital of Kazakhstan, and assessed it as an opportunity for promoting economic relations.
