In a phone conversation with Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, President Hassan Rouhani stressed that Iran is determined to expand bilateral cooperation with that country and boost economic, political and cultural ties. Congratulating Mahathir on his election victory, Rouhani said, “I’m sure that during your term as prime minister, we will see progress in bilateral ties in all aspects,” Mehr News Agency reported. Touching on the investment opportunities in Iran, Rouhani said  Malaysian companies can make use of it. He highlighted the need to boost bilateral ties to help promote peace and stability in and outside the region and fight terrorism and extremism. Mahathir said that the policy of his government is based on boosting collaboration with Iran. Pointing to the US decision in May to pull out the 2015 Iran nuclear agreement, the Malaysian leader said unilateralism will hurt cooperation and trust among countries.
