    Pakistan Navy Rescues 11 Fishermen

The Pakistani Navy rescued eleven crew members of a sunken Iranian boat in the north Arabian Sea, a statement issued by the Pakistan Embassy in Tehran said.

“Upon receipt of information about the distressed dhow (AL RAMANI) bearing the Islamic Republic of Iran flag with 11 crew members (fishermen) on board, Pakistan’s Navy promptly responded and launched search and rescue operation,” it said, IRNA reported on Saturday.

The statement said two Pakistan Navy Sea King helicopters were dispatched to find and rescue the distressed crew.

It added that helicopters equipped with search and rescue gear along with medical staff reached the deep sea area southwest of Karachi and conducted aerial search for the fishing vessel. “After rigorous search in the rough sea and low visibility, the survivors were located by our helicopter aircrew,” the statement said.

It added the search and rescue operation was aided by the Pakistan Navy ship Nasr that was present in the area on routine patrol.
