The intelligence minister said his forces have arrested members of several terrorist teams in the western and southwestern regions in recent days.
Mahmoud Alavi said on Thursday that the terrorists were identified and disbanded in timely operations by the intelligence forces, Tasnim News Agency reported.
A considerable amount of explosives and caches of weapons were confiscated in the raids, he added, noting that further details will be made public later.
The minister was speaking one day before the International Quds Days rallies which are held annually throughout the country.
Alavi not disclosing more information about the nature of the terrorist teams were seemingly linked to not securitizing the public mood before the rallies.
In Tehran, security was tight during the rallies with a heavy police presence at the main squares and subway stations.
Countrywide demonstrations marking the International Quds Day were held in more than 900 cities yesterday, the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan.
