Iran’s Ambassador in Lebanon Mohammad Fathali welcomed the successful parliamentary elections in Lebanon as a great achievement for the county, saying that Iran will support its national solidarity.
In a meeting with Lebanese Foreign Minister Gibran Bassil on Thursday, he hoped “the new parliament would help nurture democracy” in Lebanon, IRNA reported.
Recent political achievements will play a crucial role in the stability and security of Lebanon and the region, he noted.
Fathali hoped that the new cabinet would be formed at the earliest and help underpin solidarity among the diverse Lebanese groups and factions.
Fathali and Bassil discussed bilateral ties and the latest regional developments.
Lebanon’s Prime Minister Saad Hariri has been named to form a new government following consultations by President Michel Aoun with top members of parliament at the presidential palace in Baabda.
Hariri said Thursday that he would try to form the government quickly after listening to the demands of various political factions.
