Officials from the office of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei visited the nuclear facilities last week, ISNA reported on Saturday.
During the two-day tour of Fordo and Natanz nuclear enrichment facilities and the Uranium Conversion Facility at Isfahan in central Iran, the officials were briefed on the activities of the centers.
Asghar Zarean, deputy director in charge of nuclear protection and security at the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), who was accompanying the delegation, said on the sidelines of the visit, "Iran's nuclear industry today acts as a driving engine for some vital industries in the country," adding, "The cooperation between the AEOI and the ministry of industry, mine and trade is taking place along this line."
"The activities of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran are not exclusively concentrated on (uranium) enrichment and we have already managed to achieve successes" in using nuclear technology for medical purposes.
Elsewhere, Zarean highlighted the constant support of the Leader and President Hassan Rouhani for the nuclear program and pledged that in the coming months, the AEOI will put on display to the Iranian nation "parts of the steps that have been taken" to use nuclear technology for peaceful applications.
