A group of lawmakers has sent a letter to President Hassan Rouhani, demanding that the government needs to review ties with the United Arab Emirates, after the Emirati foreign minister backed US anti-Iran policies. At the open session of the Majlis on Tuesday, a letter signed by 61 MPs was read in which the legislators called on the government “to revise all ties to the UAE in light of the recent anti-Iran stances of the tiny Persian Gulf emirate,” Mehr News Agency reported. In addition to setting conditions for removing the economic sanctions on Iran, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Monday accused Iran of “supporting terrorism”. UAE’s minister of state for foreign affairs, Anwar Gargash, said on Monday Pompeo was taking the right approach on Iran. “Uniting (our) efforts is the correct path for Iran to realize the futility of its incursions and expansionism,” Gargash wrote on his official Twitter account, several hours after Pompeo’s irresponsible attacks on Iran.
