Iran on Monday said it will support any political faction or group that comes to power in Lebanon’s parliamentary elections. Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Bahram Qasemi said "The Islamic Republic will support and cooperate with any Lebanese government winning the majority of votes," IRNA reported. According to Sky News, unofficial early results point to Hezbollah winning more than half the seats in the Lebanese parliament. Weighing in on the upcoming Iraqi parliamentary elections, Qasemi condemned the destabilizing Saudi interference in the Arab nation’s internal affairs."Given the strategic significance of Iraq, countries in or outside the region will attempt to disrupt the progress of this nation, as was the case with Deash [Islamic State] that ruled over some parts, backed by certain countries," Qasemi was quoted as saying in response to a question about Riyadh’s meddling in Iraq’s political affairs.
