Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavi highlighted his ministry's track record in staving off terrorism despite Iran being located in a terror-ridden region, saying security forces had disbanded "three hundred" terrorist cells on the last Iranian year that ended in March. "Thanks to the work of security forces, 300 terrorist teams plotting terror acts like bomb attacks or sabotage were smashed last year (ended March 20)" Alavi was quoted by IRNA as saying on Tuesday. He did not elaborate. The Majlis and the mausoleum of the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, were targeted by terrorists last June in which 18 people were killed.  The self-styled Islamic State terror group claimed responsibility. Alavi said those aiding the twin bombing in last June were apprehended in 24 hours. After the twin assaults, security forces stepped up their counter-terrorism operations across the country, particularly in the border regions, arresting and killing dozens of terrorists and seizing large amounts of weapons and explosives, the minister said.
