Prominent political figures, including Expediency Council Chairman Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, former president Mohammad Khatami, former parliament speaker Ali Akbar Nateq-Nouri and former first vice president Mohammad Reza Aref, have been invited to a major congress of the reformists which will be held in Tehran on January 15, Fars news agency reported on Wednesday.
Rafsanjani and Khatami will be the main speakers at the gathering.
The reformists, who have announced that they will actively participate in the campaigns for the parliamentary election in 2016, are making efforts to foster unity among them with the aim of gaining the majority in the Majlis.
