China has expressed its willingness to assist Iran in building a small nuclear plant for civilian use, a lawmaker said in Tehran on Wednesday. “Negotiations have been held on mutual cooperation and building a small nuclear power plant by China,” lawmaker and chairman of Majlis Nuclear Commission, Mojtaba Zonnouri, said, IRNA reported. He recently visited Beijing to attend a joint nuclear cooperation conference. During the meeting the issue of China building a small nuclear plant in Iran was proposed, the lawmaker said. “The Chinese welcomed the proposal and it was decided that the issue be pursued at other (higher) levels,” Zonnouri was quoted as saying. No other details were available.
