IRGC: Terror Attack on Border Post Foiled

Border forces thwarted an attack by terrorists from neighboring Pakistan on Tuesday to seize a guard post in the southeastern border province of Sistan-Baluchestan.  "A team of terrorists attempted an attack from Pakistani territory to seize a border post in [Mirjaveh] at 1:30 am [local time]," said a statement by the public relations office of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps. "But they faced strong resistance from the guards and the sinister plot was foiled by a firm and timely response in a fierce clash… after the intervention of the IRGC back-up forces ". The statement said two border guards and two IRGC members were martyred and two others injured in the clash, ISNA reported. Three terrorists were killed and several others injured. The attack came at a time when relations between Tehran and Islamabad were slowly turning to normal after a spat over poor border security control from the Pakistani side that lets terror groups to sneak across into Iranian territory.
