Former vice president Mohammad Reza Aref said efforts are being made to encourage people to turn out in large numbers for the parliamentary elections in 2016 to pave the way for pro-reform groups to win a great share of seats in the Majlis.
He made the remarks at a gathering of news correspondents, ISNA reported on Wednesday.
"As I have repeatedly stated in the past, we will actively participate in the elections and make efforts to convince the nation for a high turnout in order to win the majority in the Majlis," he said.
Aref had recently said the next parliament should represent all groups.
He said the reformists and moderates were in the same camp and predicted they would win the next parliamentary elections.
