Zimbabwe’s first vice-president said Harare is willing to bolster relations with  Iran.

Constantino Chiwenga made the remarks in a meeting with Iran’s Ambassador to Harare Ahmad Erfanian on Thursday, The Zimbabwe Mail reported.

In the meeting the Zimbabwean official referred to the historical ties and affinity between the two countries dating back to struggles for his country’s liberation campaign and said his government seeks further cooperation with Tehran.

There exists ample of untapped grounds for expansion of bilateral cooperation and by establishing the joint economic commission the two sides can take  firmer steps to consolidate relations, he said.

The Iranian ambassador, for his part, expressed happiness over peaceful transitional of power in the country and said Tehran welcomes expansion of two-way cooperation.
