    No Concern Over Iraq-Saudi Relations

Iranian ambassador to Iraq said Tehran not only has no concerns over the prospects of the Iraqi government increasing its relations with its neighbors, including Saudi Arabia, but also welcomes such steps. Iraj Masjedi said, “Iraq is an independent nation and is entitled to make its own policies. It is natural for Iraq to be trying to increase their neighborly relations with Jordan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Iran.” Not only do we think this is not a problem, but we also would like to see all regional countries enjoy good relations,” he was quoted as saying by Fars News Agency on Saturday. He, however, warned that Iran would confront any schemes hatched against it by Saudi Arabia. “Any problems caused by Saudis against Iran will be dealt with accordingly at any time, in any place,” he said. An Iraqi lawmaker has said Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman is expected to make a two-day visit to Iraq in the near future. Riyadh and Baghdad have in recent months boosted the level of contacts between them and the visit by Bin Salman will end three decades of rupture in diplomatic relations.
